Pitfalls of pre-filling
Problems can arise when dirty fluid is introduced into the fluid system during the pre-fill process. If the filter plugs and the system goes into bypass, contaminated, unfiltered fluid can create additional wear - contributing to short filter life.
Installation best practices
Keep bulk fill hoses clean and as free of contaminants as possible. Always follow the filter installation instructions silkscreened on the filter or provided by your equipment manufacturer.

Fuel handling session at ATM Conference
|
The annual Technical Maintenance Conference organised by the Australian Trucking Association (ATA), was held this year at the Australian Technology Park in Sydney. It was the first time in nearly two decades that the conference had been held in NSW, and Trucking professionals from around Australia gathered to participate, and learn about the industry’s critical technical service related issues.
On the agenda this year was a session called ‘Fuel Handling and your engine’. The panel of industry experts included representatives from BP, Cummins Engines and Hayden Schulz of Donaldson Australasia.

There was a lot of interest in the session, particularly from delegates familiar with the detrimental effects of fuel contamination on the life and performance of new generation engines. Fuel leaves the refinery in the best possible condition. The panel’s focus was upon how fuel handling at the depot and prior to dispensing into vehicles may impact fuel system service life.
