2017 Australian Super Truck Champions

Despite the heavy rain, 9 trucks took to the track on Saturday 2 November for the 2017 Giti Super Truck Nationals. Teams braved the bad weather for warm up and qualifying with pilots finding their way off track all day including SRZ Racing’s Steve Zammit who crashed heavily on the first lap of qualifying, placing him at the back of the grid for Race 1 later in the day. Frank Amoroso came off on the first lap of race 1 resulting in a red flag restart.

As the day went on and track conditions failed to improve, race organizers eventually cancelled all truck racing in the interest of track and pilot safety. This gave race crews a head start on repairs, working long into the night preparing for the next days’ competition. On day 2 the track had started to dry and grey skies proved no deterrent to our Super Truck competitors. Steve Zammit, recovered from the events of the previous day, went on to place in all three races sealing the 2017 championship crown for SRZ Racing.

Huge congratulations to Steve and the team at SRZ Racing for taking out the Championship title for the third year in a row.
